<p>Initial planning stages for the Deadwars back story and historical events that lead up to the &#8220;present day&#8221; in the deadwars world.</p>
<p>The comic will focus on the history and events that take place prior to &#8220;present day&#8221; events of the game.  As the game progresses and receives updates additional issues of the comic will be released relating to the game, new features, cities etc.</p>

<p><strong>How did it start</strong></p>
<p>Deadwars will take place it the not to distant future. Say 10 &#8211; 20 years from now.  The worlds population continues to grow at  an uncontrollable rate while the worlds economy has grown steadily worst as more and more jobs are lost and standard work becomes more automated.  Unemployment and homeless grow and surpass 30% of the population. Cities have nearly decayed into shanty towns and squats with the populations far surpassing the available work.   Human rights are no longer an issue as governments and corporations are the only &#8220;people&#8221; who have any rights any longer.  The homeless are looked at as 2nd rate citiziens and have no rights. Most homeless that commit crimes are executed on the spot because of the costs involved with any trials or sentances.  Hunting the homeless down becomes a general pass time for the employed and wealthy.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>The Rope corporation, the largest manufacture in ( a in game city, maybe Newbia?) of  pesticides, preservatives and population control products releases a new  soda product line that is affordable even to the pool and would supply the drinker with the nutritional value of a  single meal.  The new soda was also highly addictive, tastes great and has a unbelievable flavor; but always leaves you with a thirst that can never be quenched.  The soda exploded across the country and then the world.   Within a few months nearly all the worlds population was addicted and consumed with drinking it.   It was at around this time that people found out that this new soda&#8217;s main ingredient was the homeless population.  But this didn&#8217;t stop people from drinking it.  In fact the  people cheered at the idea.  Not only did this take care of the homeless problem and open up more jobs but it was so addictive and tasted so great no one cared.</p>
<p>This soda was named Soylent Soda.</p>

<p><strong>Where did the zombies / undead come from? How were they created?</strong></p>
<p>As the months went by demand for the drink increased to uncontrollable demand.  Shortages would lead to rioting with people killing who ever they could find and dropping the bodies off at the new Soda on demand machines that had to be released to manage peoples thirst.  These vending machines could convert a body into a weeks supply of Soylent Soda.  It was at this point the Rope corporation started experimenting with new preservatives and artificial hobo flavoring to increase the flow of soda.  The new soda line was able to cut the amount of bodies needed to create  the soda.  But this new recipe had some unexpected results.</p>
<p>By the time anyone realized what was happening it was too late.   The new recipe caused the addictiveness of the soda 10 fold as well as the unquenchable thirst. This addictiveness would in a very short period of time kill anyone who could not get their Soylent soda fix.  The other downside was the new preservatives that were used in the soda didn&#8217;t really kill the person.  From what the experts would tell the persons brain would burn out from the addiction, but the thirst wouldn&#8217;t leave.  The body would still have an uncontrollable craving for Soylent soda.  When the Rope corporation realized what was happening the ingredients had all ready spread to nearly all drinkers (though sales and from using all ready tainted bodies).</p>
<p>It was at this point that the world slipped into chaos.  The human population was cut nearly in half every week as the thirst took over more and more people. It is at this point that the hobowars game takes place or the &#8220;present day&#8221;.  Most of the human population has been wiped out, with most of the population being changed into zombies or people affected by the thirst.</p>

<p><strong>Who survived and why? Why did some people not turn into zombies?</strong></p>
<p>The population of the world is now split into 3 categories of people:</p>
<p>1) People who never drank the Soda.  Few in numbers these are the people who for the most part couldn&#8217;t or wouldn&#8217;t drink the soda.  People with diabeties, the elderaly, vegans, human rights activists and generally all the pussies of the world.</p>
<p>2) People who did drink the soda but have yet to turn into zombies.  These people are constently hunting down zombies (and  the living) to keep the thirst from over taking them.</p>
<p>3) Zombies.  These are the people over taken by the thirst and now roam out of control killing anyone living they can find.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><strong>Primary characters:</strong></span></p>
<p>Characters of interest.</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Dianna Beaties</span> : Overly obese southern woman who spent her life on welfare.  Now spends her time taking care of her 9 now zombie children.</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Zealots of Nom!</span> : A fanatic group consumed with the thirst who believe they are doing gods work by consuming the non-believers who would not consume the soda (gods blood).  These people specifically go after anyone who is not currently infected and revere the zombies often times sacrificing the non-infected to any undead they can find.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">the North Stars</span> : A Texas  militia group that spend their time burning every city and town they can find to the ground with everyone (and everything) in it.  They believe they are saving the country and stake any and all land as property of the new Texas.  Their motto: &#8220;if it aint Texas it aint shit&#8221;  or &#8220;if it aint Texas its on fire&#8221;</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>A new round of game testing will be starting soon.  Currently the game is unplayable until the memcache, Smarty PHP and Jquery UI updates have been completed.  Players can still register and login to the game; you just wont be able to do very much.</p>
<p>The next round of testing will be focusing on cities and brawls.</p>
<p>The goal will be to have cities automatically generated every week.  This will be the weekly &#8220;reset&#8221; where each city will have new buildings, quests and areas created that will let players battle over key buildings and areas. Every 30 minutes players can choose to defend an area their side currently has control of, take control of an unoccupied area, or attack an area that is under control of the opposing side.  Each building will &#8220;unlock&#8221; features to side that controls them.  Players will then earn achievements, brawl points, cash, etc based on their successes in defending/attacking.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Each building or area will over various different bonuses to your side (if you are in a specific city that controls the building).  Some examples of buildings will be hospitals (decreased costs in healing), banks (no cost in selling items, depositing money) bunkers (increased bonus to defense), collages / schools (increased gains in training) just to name a few.  The goal will be to have at least 25 different and unique buildings available for conquest.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Great news.  If you didn&#8217;t notice the main site has finally been finished.  After over 120 hours of work I believe that the external site for deadwars is finally done.  The only 2 remaining features that will need to be added are the facebook connect which will allow players to login with their Facebook account; and the community pages, which are the publicly available pages for players (profiles, referrals, achievements, etc.). Also I will be adding content and help information over the next week or so that will have more information about some of the kick ass new features that are planned.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>This new site has way too many features to list.  But the most important ones are:</p>
<p>1) New fancy login and registration pages.</p>
<p>2) Ajax powered validation for registration, logins, lost passwords, etc.</p>
<p>3) HTML, Javascript, CSS and images have been optimized by over 700%.</p>
<p>4) Cleaned up the interface, images, styles and fixed much of the interface.</p>
<p>And quite a bit more!</p>
